Whatcom County Charter Review Commission: Whatcom County is one of a handful of Washington counties that has crafted its own local form of government called a “charter” (much like our nation’s Constitution). Our Charter impacts all of Whatcom’s government and elected officials. It impacts all of us. Our charter itself mandates a review of our government structure every 10 years with a 15-member commission whose duty is to make change-recommendations to Whatcom citizens who will vote on those proposed changes in the 2025 general election. In the November Election, Whatcom County will choose 15 citizens (three from each of our five county districts) to serve on the review commission. There are 46 candidates (about 9 candidates in each district) running. This is an extremely important election which impacts your rights and representation here in Whatcom County. Know your district (1-5) and vote for the following candidates who will serve and represent your interests:
District 1- Bill Geyer, Dan Robbins, Sarah Rothenbuhler
District 2- Garrett O'Brien, Ken Bell, Mary Kay Robinson
District 3- Doug Chadwick, John (Westy) Westerfield, David Ramirez
District 4- Joe Ellenbaas, Hannah Ordos, Brad Kelly
District 5- Jon Mutchler, Lindsey Graham Ellenbaas, Rod Stump
