Whatcom County Republican Party Clarifies Candidate Recommendation
The Whatcom County Republican Party (WCRP) has a high standard for supporting candidates that reflect conservative values. We expect our endorsed and recommended candidates to uphold a standard of conduct that is professional and represents the WCRP with integrity.
When a candidate participates in campaign behavior that conflicts with the core values of the Whatcom County Republican Party and the Washington State Republican Party, we must withdraw our support. Public attacks against another conservative incumbent who has served the community with honor and distinction is counterproductive to our goals.
We expect candidates to run on ideas, qualifications, and vision. The use of character smears, misinformation, or divisive rhetoric damages more than just one candidate. It weakens the Party’s ability to build trust, raise support, recruit strong candidates, and maintain credibility in the eyes of voters. These tactics undermine the broader mission of the WCRP and the unity of our conservative movement.
Policy differences are expected. Personal attacks are unacceptable. We will not support any campaign that puts ambition ahead of integrity.
This action reflects our commitment to preserving a respectful, issue-driven political process. It underscores our support for candidates who lead with character, uphold Republican principles, and work to strengthen our communities.
The Whatcom County Republican Party will continue to stand behind candidates who promote conservative values, engage in honest debate, and inspire confidence in the electoral process. We urge all candidates to elevate the conversation and focus on what truly matters to the people of Whatcom County.
We thank our members and supporters for holding the Party—and our candidates—to a higher standard.
