Over the past 15 days, more than 20,000 Washington citizens signed a petition to legislators asking them to balance the budget within existing revenues and not introduce new taxes.
This is quite a different story from the first day of session, when a coalition of more than 80 organizations and labor unions turned in 14,000 names of people who support what they call a “progressive” approach to balancing the budget, which includes increased taxes and fees. Leaders of the pro-tax coalition were eagerly greeted by Governor Gregoire, Speaker Chopp and Senate Majority Leader Brown.
It is time for us as taxpayers to PUSH BACK! Please join us as we gather at the Capitol on February 15th for the Push Back 2010 Rally. Your legislators need to hear it directly from you: "No New Taxes!"
The government answers to us, not the other way around. We The People must take our government back.
